Marketing your work is complicated.

It’s also necessary. And often lonely.

Having to balance:

  • the beautiful, meaningful work you do, day in and day out

  • the ever-changing landscape of “what works” on social media

  • your own ethical concerns about typical marketing practices

  • the reality of constrained time and resources

…means marketing can be a significant burden, especially when your time or capacity is already constrained…

What if you didn’t have to figure it out on your own? What if you could get the burden of marketing and content planning off your plate, with community support?

I’m Tristan Katz and together we can do just that.

I’m a writer, educator, digital strategist, and equity-inclusion facilitator dedicated to shifting the culture and interrupting systems of harm.

My marketing work is rooted in an anti-oppression and intersectional lens, informed by years of study with Michelle C. Johnson and the teams at Resolutions Northwest and the Transgender Training Institute.

I believe that marketing can center relationship over transaction, that we can infuse our business growth strategies with our activism, and that we each have a role to play in disrupting oppression—in our marketing and beyond.

I’m honored to have worked with and supported organizations and clients such as Portland Public Schools, Stanford University’s YogaX Program, HubSpot, LoveYourBrain, Breathe for Change, and Williston Northampton School, along with leaders like Ilya Parker of Decolonizing Fitness, Jivana Heyman of Accessible Yoga, Amber Karnes of Body Positive Yoga, Jacoby Ballard of A Queer Dharma, Michelle C. Johnson of Skill in Action, and so many more.

In my extensive marketing experience (more than 15 years!), I’ve developed a more sustainable and authentic approach than the tactics you’ve been taught you “must” adopt to share your work online.

That approach: focus on making a valuable contribution and create meaningful connection.

Then create a body of content you can reuse and re-share again and again.

Ilya Parker, founder of Decolonizing Fitness

“Working with Tristan has affirmed that I can create the services my community deserves and further expand the reach of my business.”

Stacy Dodds, transformational life coach

“I learned so much and have so many ideas (almost too many)!”

In the past, I’ve focused on teaching my approach to marketing…what if instead of having to learn it and do it yourself, we could do it together?

I’ve been in charge of marketing for multiple organizations in addition to my own business; just because you can’t bring me on as your marketing director doesn’t mean I can’t direct your content and marketing for you!

The plan: you + me + a small group of other values-focused entrepreneurs
= months of content for your business.

+

“Tristan has supported me in propelling my work further than I could have on my own…Integrity is very important to me as is trusting someone with my work and I trust Tristan infinitely.”

Lael Peterson, life coach dedicated to anti-oppression work

“Tristan helped me get clear about what I was trying to create and where I was getting stuck. They gave me practical tools to make marketing easier and took the time to teach me how to use them. They gave me more value than expected.”
